First Day
Old Town and Spanish Riding School

On Day 1 start your trip exploring Vienna Old Town. The classic city walking tour will offer you some hidden gems and a good overview of the city.

Here you’ll want to visit Mozart House, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and  Vienna State Opera, a magnificent building that played host to some of the world’s best singers and conductors. You don’t need to be a music lover to appreciate the Musikverein or State Opera House.

In the afternoon while you find a great place for lunch, hit one of Vienna’s many museums. You’re absolutely spoiled for choice. In a sea of riches, the Kunsthistorisches Museum is likely the grandest museum in Austria.

Among Vienna’s many spectacular palaces, the Hofburg Palace is kind of the master one. This was the main imperial palace for the Habsburg royal family through the centuries.

Then your next stop should be at The Spanish Riding School a traditional riding school for Lipizzan horses with a history of more than 450 years. before ending up at some traditional Austrian restaurant.

You’re sure to be keen to experience the local cuisine, the best way to do this is to visit a typical Viennese beisl, essentially a traditional local tavern.

If you don’t want to walk, the easiest way to get to see all these landmarks is by taking the famous Hop-On Hop-Off Bus.

Second Day
Schönbrunn Palace and Danube Tower

In the morning on day 2, get started bright and early and ready to visit Schönbrunn Palace. It’s Vienna’s top tourist attraction, a UNESCO-listed site, and the height of elegance.

Schönbrunn is one of Vienna’s most popular attractions, and queues can get very long. I highly suggest booking a skip-the-line tour, especially if you are traveling between May-September. And while still here, you can visit the Zoo (Tiergarten Schönbrunn), the oldest in the world and it is huge. In fact, it takes hours to see it all!

If markets are your thing, then the one to visit in Vienna is the Naschmarkt. This long outdoor market has been going strong for centuries and has a little of everything.

Vienna is the classical music capital of the world and with such a strong musical pedigree, you can’t miss the opportunity to catch a concert.

Although a bit far from the area, the Danube Tower (Donauturm) is the best place for dinner on your second day in Vienna.

Third Day
Viennese Activities and Traditions

One of the best things to do in Vienna o your third day trip is to make the journey all about the traditions and fun activities.

One of the absolute must-do things in Vienna is sitting down in a Viennese coffee house for some coffee and delicious cake. While there are plenty of places to enjoy, it’s hard to beat Café Central.

Once the royal hunting grounds, the Prater has transitioned today into a mammoth park. Although it stretches miles, of woods for many visitors though, the main attraction here is the Prater Amusement Park. This huge theme park with a range of rides and amusements includes a giant Ferris Wheel which was built in 1897

If you want to relax while still exploring the city, a river cruise is a great way. Enjoy the tranquil Viennese atmosphere from the river in the evening light and the sunset over Vienna from the water.
